I discovered so many great new blogs and bloggers during last years hop, so when the call for participants came out this year I jumped at the chance to join in. So far I've learned a whole lot of techy, bloggy things and have met a bunch of lovely quilty people too, so I already consider this to be a big success!
I'm fortunate to have an artsy-craftsy mom, so I've been exposed to sewing my whole life. Our Christmas gifts growing up were often homemade knock-offs of the trendiest toys (remember Pound Puppies, Cabbage Patch Kids and Popples?!?) Speaking of Cabbage Patch Kids, one year I received my very own, authentic, Cabbage Patch Kids sewing machine! **insert heart-eye emoji here** So, yeah, sewing has been part of my life since forever.

Quilting in particular, has been part of my life for about the last decade, but I got really hooked 4 years ago when I discovered the online modern quilting world and so many talented bloggers. Since then I've started designing my own quilts, I've amassed a decent sized fabric stash, discovered a world of new techniques, opened an Etsy shop (I even sold something once!), learned a bunch of new skills, had a quilt published in Quilty magazine, and finally got up the nerve to start a blog of my own. Thank you, internet!

What I love most about quilting is the ability to express myself creatively, while making something tangible and functional and cozy. I love the hands-on, tactile element of the craft and the satisfaction of completing that final stitch in the binding. Whether I'm sewing something slowly by hand, or whipping through a quick project, I love every minute of it. (well, maybe not the basting so much) Lately, I've been listening to Instrumental music while I quilt - sometimes jazz, sometimes classical - which I find so calming. Do you listen to/watch anything in particular during your sew-y time?

Hey, you're still reading! That's great! How about some tips now?
Quilting Tip: Make what moves you! Is there something trendy in blogland that you love? Make it! Don't love that trendy thing? Don't make it! Intrigued by a new technique? Make it! Are you really into hexies, or dresden plates, or improv? Make, Make, Make!
Blogging Tip: Link up! Linky parties are a great way to discover new blogs, get to know your fellow bloggers and build up a readership. When I first started my blog I felt as though I was typing into a void, but joining linky parties changed all that. So go for it and link up! (don't forget to share the love by visiting your fellow linkers and commenting)
